If you have a few holiday gifts to buy—or a household purchase you have been putting off—early October is a useful time to compare prices. Amazon, Walmart, Target and Kohl’s are promoting fall savings around the same week, giving shoppers several places to check before placing an order.
The events have different dates and membership rules. Some offers require a paid subscription, others use a free loyalty account, and coupons do not necessarily apply to everything in your cart.
Here is the schedule to know, followed by a few ways to decide whether a sale price is worth paying.
October Deal Days 2026: the schedule
- Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: October 6–7, 2026. Prime membership is required for event deals.
- Walmart: October 5–11, 2026, according to current reporting. Check Walmart’s sale page for the latest details.
- Target Circle Deal Days: October 6–7, 2026. Members of the free Target Circle program can shop the event; current Circle 360 members get early access to selected offers beginning October 5.
- Kohl’s Deal Days: October 5–8, 2026. No membership is required to shop the event.
Walmart date note: The October 5–11 schedule appears in the supplied Hunt4Freebies article and current news coverage. We have not independently confirmed it from a current official Walmart announcement. Avoid relying on an exact start time until Walmart confirms it.
Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: October 6–7
Amazon confirms that its U.S. event begins at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6 and ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on October 7. The event offers Prime members discounts across categories such as electronics, home, beauty, fashion and toys.
If you already have Prime, build a short list of products before the sale starts. Record the current prices and exact model numbers so you can compare the event offers with other stores.
If you would need to join, include the membership cost in your decision. Check the terms shown at signup for trial eligibility, renewal pricing and cancellation instructions.

Walmart: check the reported October 5–11 sale
Current coverage reports a Walmart fall sale running October 5–11. Treat that as the reported schedule and check the retailer’s own savings page before planning around it.
For price comparisons, look beyond the product name. Check the model, package size, included accessories, seller and delivery cost. Two listings can look similar while offering different versions of a product.
For marketplace purchases, also review who sells and ships the item and which return conditions apply. A slightly lower price may be less useful if the delivery date or return process does not fit your needs.

Target Circle Deal Days: October 6–7
Target’s main event runs October 6–7 for members of Target Circle, its free loyalty program. Current members of the paid Target Circle 360 tier get early access to selected offers beginning October 5.
The retailer has announced savings on selected clothing, home items, beauty products, toys and tech. The advertised discounts do not mean every item in those categories is included.
Sign in to the right account before comparing your checkout total. Base Target Circle and Target Circle 360 are different membership options; you do not need the paid tier simply to participate in the main Circle Deal Days event.

Kohl’s Deal Days: October 5–8
Kohl’s confirms a four-day event with savings on selected seasonal products, an additional 25% off qualifying purchases with a coupon and free shipping on Kohls.com orders throughout the event.
Shoppers can also earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent on qualifying merchandise. Terms and exclusions apply, including restrictions involving Sephora at Kohl’s.
Compare the amount you pay today
A coupon discount and Kohl’s Cash serve different purposes. An eligible coupon reduces the current purchase price. Kohl’s Cash is a promotional benefit for a later qualifying purchase under its own redemption terms.
Compare today’s checkout total with the competing retailer’s price first. Then consider whether you expect to use the Kohl’s Cash within its redemption window. Do not treat a future promotional reward as money already taken off your current bill.

Should you buy in October or wait for Black Friday?
There is no single answer for every product. A good October price may suit an item you need soon, while an optional purchase may be worth watching longer.
Start with your own target price. If the exact product reaches it, arrives when you need it and has acceptable return terms, you have a practical reason to buy. A large discount label alone is less useful.
None of these event announcements guarantees that every sale item will be cheaper than it is on Black Friday. Compare actual prices rather than assuming that one shopping event always wins.
A simple checklist before checkout
- Make a short list. Decide what you need and how much you are willing to spend before browsing.
- Match the exact item. Compare model numbers, sizes, quantities and included accessories.
- Check the final total. Account for shipping, required memberships and applicable coupons.
- Separate savings from future rewards. A later-use reward is only valuable if you can use it under its terms.
- Read the return conditions. This is especially useful for gifts bought well before the holidays.
- Save the receipt. Keep the order confirmation and any coupon or reward information.

No. Amazon and Target run their main events October 6–7, while Kohl’s runs October 5–8. Walmart’s reported schedule is October 5–11 and should be checked with the retailer.
Do I need paid memberships at every store?
No. Amazon’s event deals require Prime. Target’s main event uses the free Target Circle program, with selected early-access offers for paid Circle 360 members. Kohl’s says no membership is required for its event. Check Walmart’s current event terms directly.
